BACnet
Building Management
First published by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers in 1987, and with a first formal specification released in 1995, the BACnet communications protocol facilitates communication of building automation and control systems for applications such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning, lighting, access control, and fire detection systems.
BACnet allows systems to engage in integrated communications by performing Who-Is, I-Am, Who-Has, I-Have service invocation for Device and Object discovery, as well as Read-Property and Write-Property services for data sharing.
